4 Getting started with your care and support package – the first stage is for Anna or Nadia to visit you at home to work out the details of what you want and when. This might be just one call a week to help you with a shower or to do some shopping or it might be multiple visits a day because you needs lots of support. You will also get the chance to say if you have a preference for a male or female carer.
5 Putting together a support plan – on the visit Anna and Nadia will discuss a support plan with you that sets out all the details of time and dates of visits and what the carers will do on the visits. You will get a copy of your plan to keep in your home. Anna and Nadia will now match your expressed preferences with the care team to find the right care team to meet your needs.
6 Agreeing a date for the care and support to start. This may be immediately, in a few days or a few weeks time depending on your needs.

As relatives of elderly individuals, we can play a crucial role in supporting carers and ensuring the well-being of our loved ones. Here are some ways we can contribute to the care process:
1 Provide Emotional Support: Offer emotional support to carers, listening to their concerns, and providing encouragement. Acknowledge the challenges they face and express your appreciation for their dedication.
2 Engage in Activities: Engage the elderly individual in activities that they enjoy, such as reminiscing, playing games, or pursuing hobbies. This can promote cognitive stimulation, social interaction, and overall well-being.
3 Communicate Effectively: Maintain open communication with carers, sharing your observations, concerns, or suggestions. Regular communication fosters a collaborative care approach and ensures that everyone is informed.
4 Provide Feedback: Provide constructive feedback to carers, highlighting areas where they excel and offering suggestions for improvement. Feedback helps carers identify areas for growth and enhance their skills.
5 Advocate for the Elderly Individual: Advocate for the elderly individual's needs and preferences. Be their voice in discussions with carers or healthcare providers, ensuring that their wishes are considered.
6 Express Gratitude: Express gratitude to carers for their hard work and compassionate care. Your appreciation and recognition can boost their morale and reinforce their commitment to providing quality care.
